What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wyoming

I have been dealing with this issue for a very long time, so it would be nice to have some advice so I can finally settle it . . .

In Dec 2007, my boyfriend & I moved in together. We had a small apartment in Jackson Hole, WY. He didn't have a job, so I agreed to support him until he could pay me back. In March of 2008, we broke off our relationship & I told him to leave the house. At that time, he owed me just under $4,000, however - before he left the house, I asked that he sign an Excel document listing all of the itemized dollar amounts of what he owed me. He signed it.

In June of 2008, I took him to court & won by default because he didn't even care to go. The judge awarded me that I should be paid the money he borrowed. I then had to put more paperwork through to the court so they could serve his workplace. But, wouldn't you know it -- he quit before payments could be given to me. Then he went under the radar & now has a job as a waiter or off the books or something. His debt is now at the $4K mark.

He keeps telling me he's going to pay me, but now I'm pretty much convinced he's just lying. He sold his sailboat last December & blew the money on a month long trip to California - instead of paying his debt to me. I know it's been awhile now, but I talked to a business collegue the other day that said I should get a debt collector to collect from him - that way I could recoup some of the money. I'm not sure how to go about this, because it seems these are on a business-to-business level & not for personal people working out money issues with other people. I'm not even sure if this is a good idea at this point.

We live in a small town & it's hard to see him going to parties & bars, spending money (which makes me angry). He has not paid a dime to me since I was awarded by the court & I know he has 4 bank accounts, but I don't know if paying $40 each time for the court to serve the banks is even worth it. Or -- if I should just go full-gangbusters & get a lawyer to sue him somehow. He's told me before, "Hey, you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip." Hmmmm, yeah - that angers me quite a bit.

Anyway, thanks for your time ~

Thank you, more Q's

Thanks I will explore that angle...

I went to the courts yesterday & picked up some paperwork -- in case I decide to go in the direction of having the banks served & the funds in there frozen. I see several probs with this:

* He has 4 banks. 2 of them reside in California. The court lady told me they can only serve banks in Teton County Wyoming. So I can serve FIRST INTERSTATE BANK & Wells Fargo only. Why is this? I would really like all of his accounts frozen at the same time because he may have more money in the CA accounts, I don't know -- but I am sure he also uses Bank of America & US Bank. Is there any way around this?

* The paperwork is interesting & the woman at the courts gave me a song & dance in a circle about them. I want to serve 2 banks at the same time. I am afraid if I do 1 first & then the other, he will find out & then close his account at the other. So I would have to pay $35 x 2 to have the 2 banks served at the same time.

* Serving the 2 banks at 1 time the court lady said can be difficult. The form paperwork looks like this:

Total judgement including costs:_____
Service fees previous garns/exec:_____
Post judgement interest:_____
Total:_____
Less payments received:_____
Balance due:_____

Since I have 2 forms to fill out & payment will be together, I believe each form should be filled out like this:

Total judgement including costs:_____$4,000
Service fees previous garns/exec:_____$35

-- However, the woman said that because each page would have the same amount in the top total, I may lose out on $35. I asked her why & she said ASK A LAWYER.

I just want to fill out the forms correctly & I want them to understand that the ($35 + $35 =) $70 I pay should be added to the amount my ex owes me. Should I fill out both saying $4,000/$35 or just 1 form that says that & another form that says, $4,035 + $35?

Thanks in advance for your reply!
This stuff is so confusing ~
