I took a loan on my 401k, I have since left that employer and have continued to make payments on my loan. Upon leaving, I was informed to make checks payable to the employer which would be turned around to the third party, the investment company. After receiving a statement recently, I noticed the loan balance had not changed, however I have cancelled checks showing payments made. I contacted the third party, and was told that no payments were made. Today I received a call informing me that the third party had done some investigating and found that the money was not properly turned over to them. Can I do anything to my old employer? The company's main branch is located in the state of CT. Thank you.
