What is the name of your state? California.
My fourth grader son was beaten up by approx. 20 students, during lunch break (11.50-12.30pm), and I was not informed until, I went to pick him up after school at 2.30pm. At one point Principal told me that this was the racial issue, but she added more as well. Principal only suspended the 3 main kids involved for 2 days, but my son was physically handled, and he is emtionally distress. My concern is, that I send my son to school putting trust on school that he'll be safe, and if any incident happens, then I should be getting the phone call, but that didn't happen. Also when by son was beaten in the school ground, there were no noon aids (adults)present. Prior to the incident, my son told the teacher, that he was always being bothered by the same student. What is the name of your state? CaliforniaWhat is the name of your state?

I'm sorry for the your child's experience. Can you clarify the assistance you want, and what the Principal meant regarding that it was it racial incident?

My response:

Obviously, her son said or did something to piss off a lot of people. He undoubtedly deserved the pummeling. She should tell the kid to keep his mouth closed.

I can't believe you get away with saying stuff like this. You obviously don't have kids, but if I'm wrong and you do:( , what if this was your kid?
Kids don't "pummel" each other nowadays--they kill each other (turn on the news sometime). There's NOTHING a 4th grader can say that would ever justify being jumped on by 20 other kids.

My response:

Oh, really? Then, I guess, this woman's kid is the only one in the country.

He sure is a lucky kid!

By the way, you sound like a Bible-thumping, right wing, Republican who'd love nothing better than to to curtail my First Amendment rights.

Lit--I don't want to fight with you (and I accept your apology and forgive you for u-know-what;). Sometimes you're funny but sometimes you can be really ----- (fill in the blank)
I'm just being realistic here. This is a 4th grade kid. Parent's want to be able to send their kids to school and not worry about them getting the sh** kicked out of them by 20 kids during an UNSUPERVISED recess (or lunch, or whatever it was).
Plus--this poor kid's earlier reports to his teacher about being bullied were being ignored.
Sorry, but, I don't think bullying at school is a joking matter. It's tragic. Kids commit suicide b/c of it.

Schools cannot guarantee the safety of the students. No one can do that. If the recess or lunch was inadequately supervised, that is a matter of policy and shoul dbe addressed by the parents. I cannot imagine that NO parents or teachers were on duty, but I can understand that there might have been an insufficient number present.

Also, depending on what the nature of the bullying was, it may not have been enough for the school to act on. And once again we get to an issue of policy and not the law. If the teacher failed to follow school policy on student harassment, he or she might face some internal discipline, but this is of little consequence at this point save to make sure it does not happen again.

Have you contacted the police? Was your son injured?

And what do you WANT to happen? if you are just venting, fine - I empathize. But, if you have a question, please ask it.
