What is the name of your state? IN

Friends of mine are having basement flooding issues with their home that is 6 1/2 years old. The builders did not do ground samples prior to putting in a basement and the basement has now flooded 5 times (twice in the last month). One insurance company has already cancelled them due to claims. They had to go 2 years without flood insurance due to this and paid for losses out of pocked during that time. Now they have flood insurance again but are at risk of being cancelled again. They have 2 sump pumps that run 24/7 even when it's dry out. There are other homes around them with basements that were built on higher ground and have never flooded. The current insurance company is ready to get their lawyers involved. They want their money back and feel the builder was negligent. They have a 20 year warranty on the basement.

What can my friends do? If they need a lawyer, what type?

Thank you for any advice.

Yes, the builder has admitted to building the home below the watertable and have offered to build a well on the property to "fix" the problem.

Thank you for your response.
