I live in CA and was sold an internet product by a business in NV. Does the 72 hour rescission rule apply. Product purchased 7/17/08 at 5:30pm. Selling company is not open on weekends, so 48 of the first 72 hours there could be no contact. The demo offered via the internet is not even close the reality when using the product on my computer - I also did the demo using my computer. It feels like "bait and switch." Nothing was paid yet and they are willing to accept a personal check for a business purchase. I feel cheated and would like to know my rights before speaking with them this afternoon.

Let's forget the 72 hour rescission rule. What are my rights when the demo product and the real product yield different results?

same thing happened to me

I wonder if this is the same company I canceled my order with? I also live in CA. I was told I can't cancel my order once I place order on the internet. However, my ad campaign doesn't start until 3 days after they receive my check. Fed ex was supposed to pick up, but I canceled the pick up. Now I'm told I'm liable for the $1995.00. I was told my more than one person there is a 3 day period in which I can cancel.

Federal rules and state laws provide for 3-day "cooling off" periods for many products and services. In other words, you have 3 business days to cancel certain contracts and sales (Saturday is considered a business day).

You can check out California Civil Code section 1688-1693 to see if it permits rescission in your particular situation.

Good luck. :)
