My 73 y.o. mother is in a nursing home in NY, since October 1998. My recently deceased step-father re-signed the lease in July 2000 and signed my mother's name to the new lease as well as falsifying the Statement of Income Form which stated that there were two people living in the rented home, this was also witnessed by the property manager. The landlord is trying to recover damages to the home from my mother, these damages were incurred by my step-father. My mother is also on medicaid and has no funds, the landlord is not very understanding. Please help.
