2 grand daughters took their grandmother to a car lot to "rent" a car for a couple of weeks. At the car lot the 2 grand daughters along with 3 salesmen convince grandma that she is signing papers for a 3 month rental of a car while her car was being repaired after an auto accident. In reality, 80 year old grandma with "no drivers license" signed a 3 year lease in her name only, so her grand daughter would have a car to drive.

1. Is it legal to lease a vehicle in Ohio without having a drivers license?

2. Is it legal to receive temporary tags without a license?

3. What about getting plates for the vehicle?

4. Is it possible to get insurance without a drivers license?

5. Is grandma going to get in trouble for any of this?

6. Can criminal charges be filed against grand daughters?

7. Can we make the car lot take the car back?

I know this is a lot of questions, but we are confused what to do and if we should even retain an attorney. Grandma hasn't had a license for at least 20 years and her mind is not what it used to be. The girls drove her to the lot, had her sign a $2500 check for down payment which they told her was just a security payment in case something happened to the car and she would get it back when they turned the car in. She has cataracts and trusted her grand daughters and the salesmen when they told her that it was just a rental since she couldn't read it for herself. Grand daughter is now driving car around and if there is an accident grandma will lose everything she owns since she doesn't have insurance. We would appreciate some advice as to what to do next.

Thanks,
