What is the name of your state? Oregon,

I recently was awarded a judgement against an exgirlfriend for approx $2,800. I knew she would try to get out of it so I found out thru a friend where she was working, once she found this out she quit to get out of a wage garnishment. My question is, what else can I do to try and collect. Can you report these people who dont pay to a credit agencies to have it put on their credit report. The big companies can, Can John Q Public do it as well ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Bill :)

No, because you aren't a subscriber to the credit bureaus. You can't report to the bureaus yourself. However, the JUDGMENT WILL be picked up by the services that the bureaus use to comb public records, so she WILL take a credit hit.

What else can you do to collect ??
-- levy her bank account -- you need to file that with the court and the sheriff goes to her bank with a court order for the bank to turn over all funds in her account to them. Her account will be frozen, she won't be able to use it at all.
--- summon her into court for a debtor's exam and make her tell you all about her assets, where she works, etc.

-- sieze non-exempt assets -- meaning you could take things show owns to sell to pay the judgment, but she DOES have the legal right to claim exemptions. Chances are you wouldn't get anything that way.

If she owns property, you can place a lien on it - and that includes her car.

You have options... read your state's civil code on Enforcement of Judgments.

Court orders judgments are reported to all the credit agencies. It is posted in the public record portion of the credit report. However, if she will quit a job just to avoid a wage garnishment, I don't believe she is worried about bad information on her credit report.

Assuming she has to go to work sooner or later, file another wage garnishment when she gets a new job.

She`ll goof up somewhere along the line, and thanks for your input

I forgot to add

I also forgot to add that we still have each other on yahoo messenger. And have tried to keep things semi civil, last week when I found out where she worked I instant messaged her. she replied that she was in fear of her life from me and thats why she quit, the next day she called the sheriffs dept saying I was calling her and harassing her. I havent personally spoke to her or seen her since last April or May. My question is,,,,, Can you be arrested for picking on someone through yahoo? sort of just yanking her chain so to speak ? The county I live in has a web page where you can look at the sheriffs call log,but now you need a password,to access it, its a 6 digit password can you guess it? thats how I saw that she complained ?

Most likely not. Unless its excessive then it *might* come under stalking laws.. if your state has one.

Also, consider this a long-term investment. These judgements can last for years - in your state, a judgement term lasts 10 years and can be renewed. Also, you can collect interest on your judgement at a rate of 4% over the T-Bill rate.

Just something you should consider.

I havent stalked her, atleast I dont think I have, all I`ve done is torment her on yahoo,in a funny way , like I said earlier, I havent talked to her in months and have no idea where she even lived, I still dont know where she lives. I have never made any threats towards her at all, I just want her to know I want my money and she is not going to get away with this. I have told her to just delete me off yahoo if she thinks I`m harassing her but she doesnt block me,I cant help it if I`m cute. Can I donate the judgement to a chairitable cause ? and yet still hold her accountable ? I`m not about money, I`m a man of principle. This is about principles. She should also,,,,,,,, in my opinion she should be arrested for making false statements to the authoritys. Or should I hook this loser gal up with my neighbors loser brother and walk away ? theyde kill each other lol

Dude, tormenting her, harrassing her, stalking her or what not isn't going to solve your pri**** goal -- which should be to get your money.

Frankly, from your posts, I got the feeling that you are in fact simply out to harrass, torment or otherwise abuse this woman.

If you want to get the money you are owed, I strongly suggest you start doing this right. Haul her into court for a debtor's exam. Follow the other advice you were given. But stop tormenting her. That's just abuse and there is no excuse for it.

Should she be in fear of you? If you don't have a history of abusive behavior, I'll be surprised. --People don't surprise me often.
