In Maine -
I have 3 questions:
1- Does my husband have a chance at becoming the CP w/ more visitation time?
2- What about the school situation?
3- What do we do?
Let me sum up what's going on here. My husband & his ex-girlfriend were never married, have a 4 year old. The court order says that the child will go to school in XXXX, Maine (because it's supposed to be a good school system, who knows for sure). The "mother" of this child is a control freak - my husband is currently the NCP and according to the court order, has his son about 45% of the week.
NOW - the "mother" is going back to her old ways - using work as an excuse for not being able to take her son when she's supposed to. She has had him 2 days this week - she called us twice to come get him because she "had to work". She wasn't at work those times. She also missed a team meeting at the child's school - that she scheduled because she cancelled the 1st one because she was out drinking the night before. This involved CDS, his teachers, a child psych, the social worker & the parents. They are not impressed with her. She left a message in our machine saying that she "had something more important to do". She is also supposed to be taking the child to Occupational Therapy - she's not.
She's also called us 2 times in the last 2 months flipping out, saying she can't handle this child and she's going to "have a nervous breakdown". She keeps the child home from school because she can't get her fat butt out of bed in the morning - the kids (an older one from another guy) are left to fend for themselves until she gets up - whenever that is. Her house is also a disgusting mess. This kid is not a behavior problem - he's probably one of the best behaved & sweetest children I've ever met. He will be though - if his "mother" doesn't start acting like one. It's starting to come out- it's obvious he needs his mommy and she doesn't want to be there for him. I can see the hurt in his face when he knows he's supposed to go see his mommy and she calls and says she can't take him.
We are documenting EVERY SINGLE TIME she pulls her crap. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks.
