I had a friend over my apartment. He was cooking french fries on our stove when the pan caught on fire. While he was trying to carry the pan outside he dropped it and destroyed my living room carpet. My apartment complex charged me $750 to replace the carpet. At the time we did not have renters insurance, so we must pay the full amount. Just wondering if myself and my roomates must pay the damages, or if my friend is liable since he caused the fire.
