What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nc

I sold an rebuilt engine to a guy, for 600. He played me 400, plus another 400 to install, still owing me 200. I put it in, and test drove it and the oil pump failed. I told him it would cost extra for me to install another one plus the part. He's trying to sue me because it failed and that i "didnt finish it". In the post I made for everything that I am selling, at the bottom there's a asterisk saying everything is sold as is. He said I'm under verbal obligation. And I didn't sign nor wrote anything that would incriminate myself.

Your price for the rebuilt engine with installation seems low. Did you also sell the fellow the oil pump that failed?

I do not see that you owe the guy anything.
