What is the name of your state? hawaii
my husband's daughter is now 28, jobless, homeless, terrified. she came to hawaii to be with her dad, running from an incident where she hit a parked car 5 years ago. a collection agency says she owes thousands of dollars for outstanding traffic fines. she has been cut off foodstamps and healthcare because she is "a felon in flight". she is also dislexic and a bit slow, so her chances for any future are minimal. she is afraid she will be sent back to oregon to rot in prison.
is there a statute of limitations? what can we do to help her? legal aid her says she must go back to oregon, and they refuse to assist her.

The statute of limitations does not run while the alleged criminal is not in the jurisdiction.

So legal aid is right: send her back to Oregon to face the music.
