a bad situation ... kindly advise...
accident summary = woman swerves to avoid a U-turning motorist. this causes her to jump a Large curb in a Geo Tracker. this causes $1650 in damages to the vehicle <believe it or not!>
problem = woman was led to believe she was insured with compensation, on this vehicle she is still paying off. title has lein for 7 more mos. the agent, who cannot be reached... told her initially that
"while keeping full coverage, you can save $600 by dropping theft and fire, which you don't need"
well... this agent issued a policy that consisted of liability only.. but at a price that led woman to think it was still full coverage. i had believed it also!!! while the "agent" cannot be contacted, someone at the office confirmed no coverage is on the policy... so now where can we turn? my understanding was that NY state law states a vehicle with an outstanding loan must have full coverage.
a policy was misrepresented, in my estimation... basically a bold faced lie! my Girlfriend does not have the knowledge of insurance and coverages to see herself getting screwed as its happening, and now she finds out too late, but there must be some recourse?? and the amount she has been charged is very high compared to basic liability also... which leads me to suspect the "missing" agent may be a scam artist, or in the least...
falsifying documents, and failing to disclose information...
in that "theft and fire" is where "collision" lies.
to tell her she is covered... just cannot be excused!
