i purchased a home two months ago and recently discovered that a tree planted next to the house is causing damage to the foundation. i had a home inspection done prior to the purchase but the inspector did not associate the foundation cracking to the tree but instead to the foundation settling process. i also found out after the fact that the home inspector which was recommended to me by my realtor is not certified by any of the two national home inspector associations even when the agreement i signed says that he is. finally, i have reason to belive that the sellers knew about the foundation damage and did not disclose it during the closing process.
i want to know if there is anything i can do to have either the home inspector or the previous owners or both pay the cost of removing the tree and fixing the foundation.
i appreciate your advise....thank you

You have recourse in varying degrees against the home inspector, Seller and real estate agent. Start talking to them.
