I currently live in Ohio with the father of my 3 year old daughter and am 5 months pregnant. We are no longer "together".

4 months ago we found out we would be losing our day care financial help and decided that our 3 year old daughter would spend a few weeks with her grandparents (his parents) in North Carolina.

She has been there for 5 weeks now and I have asked him every week for the past 3 weeks if we could go get her. He has either refused or not responded.

I am currently not working and have stopped attending college. He is still paying all bills and working two jobs.

Can I be accused of child abandonment because I have "allowed" her to remain there for so long. I have had limited contact with her, a few phone calls when I could get ahold of her.

I'm confused,........ If your not together, why are you asking permission to go pick up your own daughter?? I sounds to me like he's setting you up for something...

would he be capable of leaving you and taking off to live with his parents and getting custody of the child in a sneaky way?? just a thought...
