I am a home owner in FL. I was just curious if the police have the right to search your house for no reason. Can they perform a search if they receive a phone call? Do they require a search warrent? If so, how long does that take?

The police do not have a right to search your house for no reason. Under certain circumstances they can perform a search if they receive a telephone call ie. upon a call to 911 emergency. Under normal situations they must first obtain a search warrant which may take anywhere from 24 hours to a couple of days to a week depending upon the time it takes to complete the required paperwork and the availability of the judges.
