Ok, here's my situation.
My girlfriend (age 17) recently got abused by her step-father (age 37). Her mother's (age 40) "solution" to this was to move her down with her grandmother away from everyone (especially me). However, down there she is around a very unsafe environment as far as gangs, drugs, and less then appealing citizens go. She wants to come live with me (age 19 and currently in the U.S. Army) so I can take care of her and get her out of the abusive life she's been forced to live. Her parents say absolutely not, and she is being forced against her will to stay at her grandmothers and they say that if i try to come get her I will be assaulted. I love her very much and she loves me, and all I want is what's best for her and for her to be happy. She has no chance at life what-so-ever down there, seeing as how they refuse to let her go to school or have a social life at all. How is she supposed to make something of herself if she can't go to school? Where as with me I encourage schooling.
To get to the point, she is 17, and I was wondering if legally she can move out of where she currently lives (her grandmothers). Also, if I were to go get her, is there anything legally that can be done to me?
Please let me know something soon, time is very crucial in this situation because I'm about to go to Basic Training and will be able to do nothing then.
