What is the name of your state? MS

My husband has a daughter from a previous marriage. She is 9. Her mother recently remarried. The new husband erases messages that my husband leaves, so his daughter thinks he is not calling her. Two weeks ago, during his visitation weekend, he took her to the doctor for a bladder infection she'd had for a week. The stepfather wouldn't let the mother take her to the doctor. He said she just needed to drink more water. My stepdaughter misbehaved and her stepfather threatened to "put her head through the wall." All of this information came from the child. My husband wants to get an attorney and have a big confrontation. Actually, he wants to go put the other guy's head through a wall. My question is: is a 9 year old's word enough for a judge and court of law? Is threatening to harm her as bad as actually doing it? He doesn't want to make things more difficult on the child, but neither does she need to be left where verbal threats could become physical reality.

That's it. Nothing else. I spoke to one of the Juvenile Detectives here where I work, and he said to go to the police dept in the city where they live, and press a Simple Assault by Threat charge. Problem: what if she's not telling the whole truth? You know how kids can work adults.

Sorry for bothering you. Got my answer. My Juvenile Officers were in Juvi Court today, and I really wanted to get an answer. Thanks for replying.
