Abusive ex of 13 years wont give back property

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts
Im posting this for my best friend. She was in a relationship for 13 years, most of which they lived together. Her ex became abusive and one day she had enough and packed what she could and left. That was 6 years ago and she's never been able to go and pack or get her things. She was diagnosed with ptsd shortly after leaving her ex. There has to be someway she can get assistance getting back into her apartment so she can pack. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Tell you friend that her ex was under no legal obligation to store her things for six years. Frankly if she really wanted the things she could have requested a civil stand-by and collected her stuff.
