My 10 year-old son found a 20 dollar bill outside while walking the dog one day. He took the 20 to school and used it to pay for lunch. The lunch lady said it was counterfeit, and told him what he was doing was illegal. They took him to the Principle's office, and interogated him asking him about his household, family, ect. They also patted him down, and searched his socks and under his shirt. All of this was done before they even contacted us. Is what the school did legal?

Yes. They should have also contacted the U.S. Secret Service about the phoney bill as well. Did your son tell you he found the money on the street?

As you were told, the answer is 'yes'.

I'll add that the majority of people passing counterfeit money are probably innocent. The real criminals are pretty good at getting the money into circulation at places where no one is likely to check.

Chances are that nothing will come of it if he told them he found it outside (and if that's the truth). If they do try to press charges, see an attorney.

This guy's a troll.
Logic: A 10 year old finds $ and spends it on lunch? You're high. Do you starve your child?
