What is the name of your state (only U.S. law? Tennessee
Firstly, I want to thank you who posted on my other thread in regards to my daughter who is a special ed student and the isolation incident.
I have contacted an agency who is now has it in thier hands. They have informed me that it was indeed a violation and are dealing with it.
I do have another question, that I have had a few people disagree on.
Are schools required to provide adapted equipment for a special ed student such as walkers? One of the issues I had with school is that they kept insisting that I had my insurance pay for a walker for my daugther to use at school. I insisted that they were responsible for it since its in her IEP for her to go to adapted gym. After calling the Dept of Ed on them two years ago about this, they got the walker.
then last year the teacher (the same one who committed the violation on the isolation) said they needed a trunk support for the walker and told me to bring in the one we had at home. I informed her that she needed to tell the SPED director and request one. Her response was "why? we can just use yours?"
