What is the name of your state? Louisiana

When my boyfriend bought our house almost a year ago, only his name was put on the title. We would like to add my name to the title now. We don't even know how to begin going about doing this. Do I contact my mortage company? Do we have to be married for the title to be in both of our names? If my name is on the title to the house, does that mean it is on the loan, also? My credit is not as good as my boyfriends, so I'm afraid that changing the title will make our interest rates go up. I'm so lost, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

You want to become involved in a property with a person you have no legal relationship with, no I am not talking JUST being married as a legal relationship, so before you each do anything that is, well, stupid go see an Atty who can help you draft a contract that will protect you BOTH when and if you part ways. A real estate Atty can also tell you how to handle the title/loan thing.

In most cases you can not just be ADDED to a mortgage and your BF would be a stark raving fool to just add you to the title without your being responsible for the loan in some way as well.
