My ex-wife has remarried and is now living in Oklahoma. I live in Georgia and have paid child support every month. My ex-wife has done everything in her power to destroy the relationship between myself and my child (true). As a result, I haven't seen my child in 4 years. Now, the step-parent wants to adopt my child (16 years old). My child has also agreed to this. I will fight as hard as I can, but have been told by some lawer friends that I will most likely lose. If I lose and the adoption is finalized will I still be responsible for child support? Hope this doesn't sound crass, but I would like to know as much as possible.

Once the adoption is finalized, all future support ends. If you are in arrears, you will still be responsible for that.

Good luck!
