I agree.. but it is difficult to show that a 3rd party caused the breakup of a marriage that was falling apart in the first place. In the now famous case in NC, Dorothy Hutelmyer stated that her marriage was "idyllic". She honestly believe that everything was great (despite not having sex for several years, but I think that might be a NC thang). There was no slow breakup of the marriage, he just announced one day he was leaving, and that was the first she knew anything was wrong.
Personally, I like the original thought on the law, that wives are considered 'property'.
