What is the name of your state? Kentucky

I am a current Real Estate Student and I do have my license, however I am still unsure of one fact. When you are in the process of using the rules and laws for adverse possession how long do you have to wait to claim title to the property? I have heard that it is twenty years, but I have also heard that in some cases if you pay the taxes on the property then you can reduce this time period. Is this true and if so what can you reduce the period to?
