Need Advice re: Newspaper publishing flyers

What is the name of your state? Kentucky
We developed and printed a flyer for a local festival committee. There was an error in the flyer which the newspaper turned into a "big deal" and published it on the front page with a long article about our "mistake". The flyer had not been purchased by the festival committee as of the print date and we own the copyright. Can the newspaper publish this flyer without our permission or the committee's permission? If not, what action should be taken? Appreciate any comments or suggestions.

I do not believe reporting the error in your flier as a news items and show your flier as part of the story violates your copyright.

Freedom of the press is protect by the first ammendment of the US constitution.
