What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA
Been embroiled with arrears battle with NC CSE agency since 2001 claiming that I owed phamton arrears. Somehow they were able to enforce them and placed in my credit file and lien with the IRS. Along the way, I've had several lawyers represent me in actions some did and some didn't always serve my interest.

6 mos ago I obtained an order (GA) clarifying the records and accounting of my child support payments. Order states I owed "no arrears" and that all my payments have been and are current. This (GA) order was supposedly given to this NC CSE agency and they still aren't taking any action. I've gone through about 5 lawyers now, any advice on courses of action to take? My last resort is to hire another atty. Honestly I can't understand why this last one couldn't get a simple order registered and enforced. Thanks!

The 'phantom' arrears may be interest.

When two states are involved, the interest isn't usually imposed until one specific time (the interest rates often differ among the states, so it isn't automatically charged monthly or annually). ??

Other than the interest, the only thing that comes quickly to mind is that you are dealing with two states (hopefully only one child support order).

You have to coordinate the 'financial activity reports' from both states, to identify the differences and then attack/address that difference.

Get both payment listings, then id where the discrepancy is & dig up proof of pmt.

Sadly, the burden is on you to prove payment, not on either cse office to prove non-payment.

What did your lawyers say caused the difference in amounts due ??
Was it interest, payments not credited, or different c/s obligations ??
