I am desparate can anyone give me some advise?

I have a 401k from my previous employer. They made all the contributions. I recently asked if I could get some of the money out because of Doctor bills that I have. I was told that I could not due to the terms of the contract and I am an active member. I have not worked for this company in 4 years and have a retirement fund through my new employer. Is there anyway for me to get any money out of this fund? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

you should have the money moved into your own plan, and not allow your old employer to have control over it or have it in they plan. Contact a financial advisor in your area and have him look into it.
