What is the name of your state? Alabama
Two people in my family have been named defendants in a slander law suit. Since this has occurred, I have learned that the two people who have placed this suit against my family members have called my daughter a ******* because she was adopted and we did not know who her natural father was so we could find him to sign his parental rights over to us. I feel as if the law suit they filed will be thrown out because it really has no merit. My question is do I have a legal standing to file suit against them for calling my daughter names? They have said this to several people over the period of a few years. I feel as if they are attacking my child verbally. My husband and I are neither her biological parents, but she is certainly not a *******. She has both of her parents at home with her. I feel if I filed a suit they would back off. The reason I need them to back off on the other suit is because if there were any judgement I would be the person who would be effected most due to joint property, ect. Any advise would be helpful
