Illinois.
My brother's immigration petition is current. We sent him the affidavit of support. The problem is that my mother, two brothers and I we all live in the US and are US citizens. My father who filled the affidavit of support is also a US citizen but he works outside the US. The US embasy says that the affidavit is good but my brother has to show them what my father does. Is it a problem that the sponsor my father works outside the US? Will the embassy refuse it because my father works outside the US??
Note: My uncle is a US citizen and he is a doctor here. He signed as co-sponsor. Will that help???

Filing I-864 from abroad

I am not sure how much this will help, but I am currently living abroad and am filing the I-864 for my wife. The only difference in filing from abroad and filing from the US is that it may be a little harder to get it legally notarized and you may have some trouble getting forms translated into English. Other than that it is basically the same. As long as your father filled out the I-864, had it legally notarized (by a US officer), turned in the past 3 years of tax returns, and shows evidence of current employment, everything should be fine. It seems you are having trouble with this last part. Current employment can be shown by a salary statement from the employer. This can be anything because it varies from country to country, but it MUST have these requirements: It has to be issued from the place of employment (on company stationary/etc.), show beginning date of employment, the type of work performed, and how much salary he earns per a giving time period (month/year). Since your father is doing this from abroad, he may also have to have it translated into English if his place of employment prepares the paper in a foreign language. Both the original and the translated versions will have to be turned in. The translator can be anyone competent in both languages. It does not have to be an officialized translation because the original is official. They will not refuse it just because he works outside of the US, but he will have to have some kind of paper written as described above. Hope this helps.

Also,

this paper is required regardless of whether you live in or out of the US. since your father is the sponsor, he has to have the paper prepared. I am not sure if having the paper prepared by your uncle would be suffecient since he is a co-sponsor and not the original sponsor.
