What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Vt....I came home from work last night to an infuriated husband. We have been having teenagers hanging out in the alcove of our complex. Smoking from a bong..(which we now have a picture of them doing), spitting, being loud and obnoxious. The landlord has been notified a number of times, and so have the police. Not just by my husband last night, but also from another neighbor. The police told us that the bong is legal in Vermont, and that kids are protected if one of the kids lives here and they are their friends there is nothing we can do unless it is past 10:00 pm at night. As for the bong, I did mention to the police these are high school kids, and I have 2 young children seeing all this activity, which is inappropriate, and even if the bong is being used for tobacco it represents drugs. After the police left these kids (the one lives above us) went upstairs and stomped and stomped purposely so hard it almost caused our ceiling lamp to fall. Oh and I did mention to a police officer if young children hear you telling older kids its ok, that is just wrong. He agreed but said until they are caught smoking under age there was nothing they could do at this time. I gave the police a copy of the picture my hubby took. Any help would be great. Ty Faith

Well, I am sorry I did not post it as a question. So, Is there any other avenues we can take to keep these teenagers away?

I have 4 teenagers and not one of them would be this disrespectful. But, then again the cavalier attitude I see so many adults taking when it comes to controlling kids is what puts our children in jeopardy. Lets all turn our backs and ignore the problems and leave it in the hands of the bio parents who don't give a crap what their kids are doing, or where they are. As for the police, well, bongs the size of trucks where 5 teens can smoke from at the same time is ok, as long as they are of age is ok. Hey if its pot we need to "see" it first hand. How do I answer to my 6 and 7 year old asking me what are they doing mom? Lets not fret If I go out there asking them to keep the noise down and get rid of the bong and go home, I may only get shot. Then someone may do something. Or, my vehicle will be damaged....like it was last time from these kids thinking it was another tenants car who yelled at them. Oh this is just such a wonderful day and age in our society. Lets all ignore these issues and let raging hormonal teens rule. thanks for your reply. I am sure I will get the normal YW. bye Faith

They're smoking, and it's a bad thing and unacceptable in my home.

Geez Faith, if I have to tell you how to raise your kids and answer their questions, you may as well send them to me. If you intend on making sure your kids never see anyone else do anything wrong... well good luck with that.

Yeah, Faith. If you want to make sure your kids never see anyone else doing anything wrong, do not let them watch Congress in session or any party's political ads.
