You said you are about a year away from the age your insurance benefits would be cut in half anyway, didn't you? If true, while you might die in the next year, do you believe the cost benefit analysis combined with the probability of you dying prior to the age your benefits would reduce would be worth the fight?

I don't suppose now, even though the fight started a year ago. It makes me wonder though, have they ever paid out double to anybody that has previously died? At times I feel like I'm the only one fighting the fight, which makes it easier to throw in the towel eventually.
