What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
My lease ws up in April. I was renting from month to month with my boyfriend. My "boyfriend" and I split up and I moved out. WHile I ws moving out, I called my landlord and left a message and told them what ws going on. My "boyfriend stayed in the duplex. My landlord finally called me back after two weeks and told me that with me moving out, it will go against my credit. Is that true, can they do that?

In Florida if you are TRUE month to month tenant then you can move out with 15 days notice and not violate the lease. However, you need to refer to the lease you signed.

As for going on your credit, you were not clear what it is that is going on your credit. If you boyfriend stayed and is paying rent then what can be put on your credit?

It seems really dubious to me - you didn't break a lease - you're a tenant-at-will and in any case the apartment is still being rented and paid for (I assume). Why would your landlord report you to a credit bureau? I'd check your credit report over the next few months and if he does report you, you certainly can contest it - but it's obviously better to not have it happen. You should should call him and find out why he's planning to report you to a credit bureau. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, a threatening letter from a lawyer might be in order.

Yes, if he stops paying the rent and you are also on the lease, your LL can file against you. He can also come after you if your BF trashes the apartment.
