I am involved with an age discrimination complaint with a state wide, multi-location firm. I have filed a complaint with the EEOC and the charged firm has agreed to mediation. I have a very good case which is backed up with documentation to prove my charge. I would like advice as to what I might reasonable ask in terms of a settlement ? Any suggestions that you may give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It is impossible to give a "ball park" figure since each case is settled on the facts. No two cases are alike. Besides, Texas cases settle for different sums than California cases. You have already done a good job, with the assistance of the EEOC, to get the case to mediation.

Mediation does not require a lawyer but you are best served to have one. For more information on the difference between arbitration and mediation, see this web site's education gems on these forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Also, hire a labor lawyer immediately to represent you in the mediation. They will take the case on a contingency. Look for one nearest you at attorneypages.com
