What is the name of your state? GEORGIA

How old must a child be to decide which parent they want to live with? I have heard 12 and 14.
The child lives with father. He will decide to live with father at the legal age he can decide.
Can he also decide that he will not visit the mother anymore??
Does the childs decision affect the visitation in any way?
I am thinking if it is legal for a child to decide who they want to live with, surely they can decide about visitation, too.
THANKS

Georgia, "where the child has reached the age of 14 years, such child shall have the right to select the parent with whom such child desires to live and such selection shall be controlling unless the parent so selected is determined not to be a fit and proper person to have the custody of said child" (Georgia Code Annotated, 1990
