What is the name of your state? Texas
I'm in the process of buying a house in Austin. During this time, I feel that my agent is very dishonest and all he wants is for me to buy the house so that he can get the comission. He told me to offer more than what the seller asked. What is worse is that he did the home inspection WITHOUT me present. So I wanted to back out and informed him 10 days ago and agree to forfeit my earnest money. Now I find out that he never told the seller agent that I wanted to back out and trying to talk me into following through and close next Monday. Now the seller is threatening to sue me.
What do I need to do? Please advice. I don't want to lose more money (for the legal stuff) than I already had.

Tell the sellers to bite rocks. They will get your earnest money. The agent may get the commission you agreed to pay, but that is it.

What agent? Mine? I'm not going to pay him a dime. can the seller sue me to get back the commision he paid his agent (if he has already done so)?
Thanks for the quick response.

When was the inspection deadline? See if you can work with that. Contact the Board of Realtors in Austin and then go to the state licensing commission if that doesn't work. This may be ethics violations. Read the contract for sale that you signed - generally backing out means losing your earnest money. (period)
