I have been married for 9 years, and have a 9 month old son. My wife has worked for the last 5 years, earning $30,000/yr. I currently make $63,000/yr. I am preparing to file for divorce and want to know how much I can expect to pay for alimony and child support. I do want shared custody of my son, 50/50 or 60/40.

50/50 or 60/40 could be very difficult for a 9 month old to handle. He is too young to understand what is going on. He really needs to see both of you on a daily basis if possible, but transition into what you want, over time. Its too bad that the two of you can't hang in there for another year or two for your son's sake.

There are no hard and fast guidelines for alimony the way that there are for child support.

Yes that would be good for child custody issues, but would put the marriage over the 10 year mark giving the judge even more ammo to nail his @ss good with alimony.

If he's going to dump her butt, now is the time to do it.
