What is the name of your state? Upper Marlboro, MD

I've just recently found out that I have an outstanding debt with a hospital from 2004. I had medical coverage at the time but the collection agency is telling me that it is to late for them to bill the insurance company. I found out about this debt over 3 months ago and still have not been billed for it from the collection agency or the hospital. My question is in reference to the statute of limitations can they report this on my credit report (they have not done so yet) or has the statute of limitations run out and can they report it if they still haven't billed me for payment?
