What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Im in NC , company is in CA .... Purchased a custom built gaming computer online. The way this works is you use a "configurator" to build the system .. they build it , test it , ship .. Several of the components were not the components I ordered .. When I asked about this I was told "Due to backorders they used different parts to not delay the process" THis may well be fine if the parts used are of equal value/quality but they are not and i was never asked or informed of this until I noticed it myself ...... Is this practice legal?? Do I have any recourse if I have already made payment before this was discovered?
Thnx in advance

Legal?? Yes.
As for whether it was allowed or considered a breach, depends on the specifics of the purchase agreement. I am willing to bet that there is something about this in the small print.

Depends on at least TWO things.
1) The small print as noted above, and
2) If you made payment by credit card, return the item (keep receipts and tracking) and then dispute the charge on your credit card.

Thnx for the advice .... There is in fact something about this in the fine print however it says that I will be contacted about any incompatabilities or backorders so that arrangements could be made to make changes ... There was no contact related to this except of course the call that I made which more or less stumbled onto the changes ... No way to know this obviously but i seriously doubt i would have ever found out if i hadnt made the call ... Probably nothing i can do (btw i used BIllMELater for payment which i suppose i could stop but before i do that i want to make sure im right and actually have a leg to stand on) but i do appreciate the quick response
