You can move out on the earlier of the following two dates:

1.) The date your parents give you permission to move out

2.) Your 18th birthday.

age of consent has nothing to do with the age of majority. Until you are no longer a minor, you are under the control of your parents. The age of consent has to do with your BF getting tossed in jail for having sex with you, which, your parent still controls through the rights of being a parent.

Then why did you ask us if you're so sure the policeman is right? Where did he go to law school, I wonder?

The age of consent and the age of majority are two different things. The age of consent is the age at which the state will not throw your boyfriend in jail for having sex with you. But you are not a legal adult until you hit the age of majority, which in NO state is younger than 18.

I have lived in Louisiana, though I don't currently live there. The age of majority is 18.

Louisiana Code: Art. 29. Age of majority
Majority is attained upon reaching the age of eighteen years.

One doesn't have to live in Louisiana to be able to read the law, little girl.
