Myself and three other roommates, who were also listed on the lease, rented an apartment in Aurora, CO from July 1999 until December 1999. The lease was supposed to be for a full year, but after giving the landlords 30 days written notice of our moving out, nothing more was said. I just received a copy of my credit report, saying that I owe the apartment complex over $1,000.00 for breaking our lease. It also stated that it was a "joint account" with one of the other roommates. Am I alone responsible for the money owed to the complex?

You are each responsible for the full amount, until it is paid in total.

ah the joys of being naive

You will rid yourslef of the BAD HABIT immediately!

Ahhhh so you broke your lease and thought nothing of it....foolish little girl, You and your rommates are liable for the rent till the lease ends or the re rent the place, or the landlord agrees to end the lease.

Well figure it out, start asking questions like how do the come to that figure? Maybe its your half, and the other roomates owes the another $1000 and that is on THEIR credit report too

If the amount is only $1000, then YOU were problably the only one the complex dealt with and you ae probably the only one they have a SS # listed for....

So yes you owe all of the money, but YOU will have to go after the other roomate to get their 1/2 share of the bill.
