living in residence/business rental fro one month. I told the landlord from day that I think there are plumbing problems. One day there was water on the floor on the first floor bathroom. He did not follow up. Tenants moved in on second floor, flushed the toilet and the water came up through the sink in my office and soaked my client files. Some are ruined, almost all have to be redone. Color from the file folders ran on to the documents, all are buckled, the carpet is wet. It will take hours and hours to redo files and some will be lost. What are my rights here?
The landlord called a plumber and had him come and flush the main line. The landlord said that no one had lived in the second floor front apartment so sometimes the lines need to be flushed. I asked why he didnt do that before renting the units? He never even apologized or offered anything.
Am I entitled to compensation? How should I proceed?
Thank you so much
