What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

Not sure if this is in the right section. I recently was beginning a relationship with a woman who worked at a health and beauty spa and I was quite fond of her. Well on two occasions after agreeing to meet with me out of work, she called that day and said she couldn't make it. I was angry and acted in an immature fashion but her day spa had a very effective advertisement in the local paper and I always wondered whether they had received permission to use the image in the advertisement. So I wrote to the company who created this comic book character they were using and asked if the spa in question had received permission to use this image. I never heard back from them but a couple of weeks later, the spa in question was now using a new image in their advertisement.

Now I have received a notice from the post office that I have received a certified letter from an attorney whose office is in the same building as the spa in question. Have I done something illegal here? After all, it appears as if they were the ones using the likeness of a certain character without permission.

Any advice you can give me will be helpful. Thank you.

While there is nothing wrong in what you did, in fact it is a responsible thing to do so I doubt the certified letter is about that per se, however since you admitted you were angry and acted immature, I suspect there is more to the story than that, perhaps your advances are not welcome and you have not taken the rebuf in an adult manner and the certifid letter is more than likely a cease and decist letter re stalking and harassment. If you don't accept the letter and learn it's contents and act appropriately, expect personal service of a TRO.

I suppose I did leave out a vital piece of information. When I contacted the company who has the rights to the art work in question, I used an alias and made up a fake story about how the owner of the mistreated me once. I did this as I was afraid giving the real reason would make me lood pathetic (which I suppose I am) And in rather poor judgement I put down my cell phone number in case they wanted to contact me. I never thought that this company would pass on this information to the spa in question. This is how they tracked me down. Have I been reckless and therefore be sued for malice? Thank you to all who have responded.
