Am I married or not

Hi, Let me tell you this story because it is so unbelievable. Well I was in the Navy when I met this girl in a bar. We hung out for a few days and well truth has it I got her pregnant. Come to find out she was married. She wanted me too marry her now and so I took her to get her marriage papers so she could file for Devorce and she comes and tells me that there is no record of her marriage. So we went from California to Washington and got a quicky marriage. Now 4 yrs. later and now we have two kids and are seperated and she is seeking a devorce. I'm not even sure if we are legally married. She said her ex-husband must have got there marriage annuled so we are. How would I find out if she and I are even married legally? She never even had to sign or see anyone. Boy I feel stupid, please help in Michigan. p.s. I am sure she was married I have the wedding pics.
