What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Mississippi
More specifically I am attempting to get an ice machine repaired by an authorized service center. The repairman who came looked at the unit but did no testing of any kind and told me that he "thinks" i need a new electrical panel. He told me that he would have to order a new panel and the cost would be $155.00 plus the service call fee. I asked him if the new part does not fix the problem am I responsible for the $155 for the part that was not broken. He said yes I will have to pay for the part regardless, and if that did not fix it then they would continue to look elsewhere for the problem. It just doesn't sound right that I would have to pay for them to replace working parts until they find the right part that is broken. Is there any laws regarding this that will help protect consumers from this kind of thing?
