In september of '00 I signed a year lease for a commercial building with a couple who owned a business next door. There were rumors that they were selling the property but the owners denied it. The very next day the "new owners" came and introduced themselves. We had a verbal agrement on our rent amount with the previous owners and it was lowered to half the amount in the lease to compensate for the slow summer months. The new owners said they are going by what was in the original lease and not the previous owners word (who are now MIA) My question is are we even obligated to this lease with the new owners? It was between myself and the "old" owners. Do we need to have a new lease drawn up? I am in Florida. Citrus County.
