As a bona fide amateur athlete I was selected to represent Western Province in South Africa's interprovincial amateur marathon championships. I signed a letter agreeing to participate on condition that my training "went according to plan".The letter had a condition attached which stated that if I did not participate I could not participate in any other event two days before or after this event. 31 days before the event I notified Western Province that I no longer want to take part as I did want all the mental and emotional stress that one goes though in a interprovincial race. WP advised me that I was still under obligation to the Province and could not participate in an event two days before or after. I deemed this unreasonable and participated in another race on the same day, as I felt I had given sufficient notice that I was not available and as an amateur I should have the "freedom of choice" to decide what event I feel like participating in.
I have been requested to appear before a disciplinary hearing to justify my actions.
I would greatly appreciate any help in preparing for this case.
