California - Revocable Living Trust -- Need to amend it. Already have a lengthy First Amendment to the Trust, but now need to make minor change to one paragraph of that amendment.

Can I write a second amendment that makes specific changes to the first amendment and states that the first amendment is otherwise still fully in force? Or-- does a second amendment have to completely override the first amendment ? Thanks in advance for advice.

p.s. I am not a beneficiary in any way-- just trying to help since money is a concern

Living Trusts can be amended in PRECISELY the way the Trust specifies they may be amended, assuming the person who created the trust is mentally comptent at the time. Other attempts at amendment are likely invalid.

While in most cases a second amendment that amends only PART of the first amendment can be valid, it is really prefereable to amend an amendment by restating the entire provision, this time with the changes in it. It may be more typing but there is a smaller chance of error.
