My state is California.

The lot next to me is zoned for light neighborhood commercial and is up for sale. It has been used by the house next door to it for driveway access for the whole 32 years that have lived here. Do the owners of that house now have easement rights? I also built a small storage shed which I think is on part of their property -- this has been there for at least seven years. Can they make me tear it down? This is assuming that the property sells.

I have heard for years that if an "easement" was used for a period of time and the owners of the property didn't object, that it became a legitimate easement, which is why peoiple post signs that say access revocable at any time. Am I that misinformed? I understand about my storage shed.
