I live in Las Vegas, NV and was married to my husband for a year and a half. When I met my husband, I had very good credit standing and was financially secure. A couple months ago he stopped coming home. After I caught him in a hotel room with another woman he left our home. He has since signed over a quitclaim to the home in exchange for use of my car. I have filed for bankruptcy, jointly with him. He has left me with nothing and stated that he con-ed me and does not love me. I intend to file for an annulment based on these circumstances. I am concerned about the "community property" issue with the house and car. They were both purchased during the marriage, the house jointly and the car only in my name. Both were taken down in the bankruptcy and as of yet have not been reaffirmed. I'm trying to find the best way out of this awful situation. Please help.

My response:

The house is yours. He signed a Quit Claim Deed. It's no longer a part of the Community assets. The only thing is that he's still on the mortgage contract, and remains responsible for paying his half of the mortgage. But, that and a dime won't buy you a cup of coffee - - correct ?

So, see a Family law attorney immediately and start the process to unload Mr. Freeloader.
